No, we do not offer stud services or sell cats for breeding purposes. Our cattery is closed to protect the health of our kittens.
What medical testing do I need to do on my Selkirkrex?
Immunizations are crucial for your kitten’s health. However, it’s important to find a veterinarian who is familiar with the Selkirkrex breed, as they can have adverse reactions to certain vaccines. We recommend the following vaccinations:
- Four FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) vaccines during the first year of your kitten’s life
- One rabies vaccination during the first year of your kitten’s life, followed by annual FVRCP and rabies vaccinations for life
We advise against vaccinating your kitten for FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), ringworm, or Giardia. We do not offer any warranty for adverse reactions to these or any other future vaccinations. Additionally, before bringing in your new Selkirkrex kitten, it’s required that all current cats in your home be combo tested for FIV/Leukemia. An annual echocardiogram is strongly recommended to identify HCM in your cat. While we scan our breeding cats annually and breed selectively, HCM is inherent in the Selkirkrex breed.
Do you have an outcrossing program?
Yes, we have a tailored outcrossing program that adds diversity to the Selkirkrex gene pool. Our program only uses specific breeds that are approved by TICA.
What do I do if my cat gets sick?
We guarantee our kittens for 48 hours after pick-up and until the age of three for life-threatening congenital defects, including HCM. If your cat gets sick, please contact us right away. However, after the 48-hour health check, you are responsible for any illness your cat may develop. The breeder cannot be held accountable for future diagnoses of FeLV/FIV or any other bacterial, viral, infectious diseases, or parasites that may be contracted outside the cattery.
How do I know you’re a legitimate breeder?
It’s essential to do your research and be cautious of scammers when purchasing a kitten. We are a registered cattery with TICA, and our website is linked to our TICA registration. We advise against purchasing a kitten from a cattery that isn’t registered with TICA, doesn’t perform annual HCM scans on their cats, or refuses to do a FaceTime call. Scammers can be sophisticated and will go to great lengths to deceive you, so be cautious if the price seems too cheap or if the cattery asks for money via Western Union. Kittens should be produced in their own cattery with genetic testing, HCM scans, HCM gene testing, and TICA registration.
